Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®)

AIF® is the first and only designation that illustrates knowledge and competency in the area of fiduciary responsibility, and is a credential awarded by the Center for Fiduciary Standards. AIF® designees have successfully completed a specialized program on investment fiduciary standards of care and subsequently passed a comprehensive examination. Designees must be able to understand and articulate the legal and regulatory environment surrounding the fiduciary, be able to develop and implement an effective investment management process applying the principals of Modern Portfolio Theory, document all due diligence and treat clients with the utmost prudence and care. An AIF designee has attended the required AIF® classroom-based programs, successfully completed the AIF examination and met the education and work experience prerequisites.

Continuing education is required.


Accredited Investment Fiduciary Auditor (AIFA®)

AIFA® is a credential awarded by the Center for Fiduciary Standards. AIFA® designees have the knowledge necessary to understand and implement a prudent investment process for Investment Stewards and Investment Managers and can perform a fiduciary assessment to verify and certify an entities conformity to a “global fiduciary standard of excellence.” An AIFA designee has attended the required AIFA® classroom-based programs, successfully completed the AIFA examination and met the education and work experience prerequisites.

Continuing education is required.


The Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation is a certification mark for financial planners conferred by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. To receive authorization to use the designation, candidates must meet stringent education, examination, experience and ethics requirements.

The Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) is a leadership and advocacy organization connecting those who provide, support and benefit from professional financial planning. Based in Denver, Colo., FPA has more than 100 chapters throughout the United States representing more than 28,500 members involved in all facets of providing financial planning services. Working in alliance with academic leaders, legislative and regulatory bodies, financial services firms and consumer interest organizations, FPA is the premier resource for the public to find a financial planner who will deliver advice using an ethical, objective, client-centered process.


Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts

The Institute for Divorce Financial Analysts (IDFA™) is the premier national organization dedicated to the certification, education and promotion of the use of financial professionals in the divorce arena.
Founded in 1993, IDFA provides specialized training to accounting, financial, and legal professionals in the field of pre-divorce financial planning. Over the years, we have certified more than 5,000 professionals in the US and Canada as Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® (CDFA®) professionals.


Institute for The Fiduciary Standard

Founded in 2011, the Institute for the Fiduciary Standard is a research and education institution – a think tank – whose single purpose is to promote the vital importance of the fiduciary standard in investment and financial advice. The Institute’s research, education and advocacy on the fiduciary standard’s impact on investors, our capital markets and economy defines its core mission. The Institute seeks to inform and assist investors, policymakers, researchers and the industry. The long term objective of the Institute is that the fiduciary standard become established in law and the culture as the standard for investment and financial advisors (including brokers and sales professionals) when investment or financial advice is rendered.
